Singer of Concordance

Description:

The role of the Prophecy is everywhere; in the sky, the sea, the earth and heavens. The dragons may have been the first to understand this, but they are not the only ones. The Prophecy affects everyone and everyone, in turn, affects the Prophecy. Singers of Concordance know this better than most. As divine casters, they often see how the actions of others directly lead them to their ends; how the wheel of intention and circumstance inevitably turns into action and consequence. It is from this understanding of multi-layered causes and effects that Singers of Concordance learn how different spheres of influence can come together to allow a single act to be the pivotal moment of a whole chapter of the Prophecy.

Singers of Concordance seek to understand the Prophecy and, by extension, do work closely with the dragons that study it. But, unlike Dragon Prophets, who follow the wishes of a single dragon, Singers of Concordance work with many to understand the greater whole. Their way is one of reflection, for anyone can move a mountain with enough magic... but how many can move a mountain with a single grain of sand?

Role: Singers of Concordance are divine prophets that seek to pursue some aspect of the Prophecy to its end. They tend not to be doers themselves, but instead are good supporters and observers of those that do. The combination of their aspects and spells make them good healers while keeping themselves protected. However, this also prevents them from being as confrontational as a typical cleric might be otherwise.

Alignment: Singers of Concordance tend to be neutral of some fashion, as following the Path of the Prophecy requires a certain amount of moral flexibility and an understanding of motivations, both pure and dark.

Table: The Singer of Concordance

Class Features:

All of the following are class features of the singer of concordance prestige class.

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Singers of concordance do not gain any new weapon or armor proficiencies.

Spells per Day / Spells Known: At the indicated levels, a singer of concordance gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain other benefits a character of that class would have gained, except for additional spells per day, spells known (if he is a spontaneous caster), and an increased effective level of spellcasting. If he had more than one spellcasting class before becoming a singer of concordance, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for the purpose of determining spells per day. Once this decision is made, it cannot be changed.

Bonus Domain: At 1st level, the singer of concordance gains access to another domain, chosen from either Knowledge, Magic, Scalykind, Strength, Time or Travel. This bonus domain does provide additional spells to choose from for the domain spell slot. However, when determining the cleric level for the powers that the bonus domain provides, use only the singer of concordance class levels. A singer of concordance can choose subdomains as desired, but they are still limited to what is allowed for the Path of the Prophecy.

Aspect of Concordance (Su): Starting at 2nd level, and at every even level thereafter, the singer of concordance gains an an Aspect of Concordance, which further enables him to safely pursue the Prophecy while protecting those that serve with him. Aspects are fields that are centered on the singer of concordance with a 20 foot radius. Aspects that provide a saving throw have a DC equal to 10 + the singer of concordance class level + his Charisma modifier.

Each Aspect of Concordance is activated or used with a standard action that does not provoke and can be dismissed as a swift action. However, some Aspects of Concordance are automatically dismissed if the singer of concordance goes unconsciousness or performs a certain action.

Peace: The singer of concordance generates a field that promotes clear thought. The singer of concordance and all allies within the field gains a +4 morale bonus to saving throws against compulsion effects. This Aspect can activated once per day and lasts for 24 hours; usually activated at the beginning of the day, but is deactivated if the singer of concordance goes unconscious.

Refuge: The singer of concordance generates a field that interferes with hostile activities. Any creature within the field attempting a violent action or any creature performing a violent action while entering the field must make a Will save. This specifically includes allies and a violent action is defined the same way as the Invisibility spell. If they fail the saving throw, the attempted action is immediately aborted, as do any other violent actions attempted that turn. This means violent spells, powers, charges, abilities etc that would have been used within the field are not spent, but any violent action that was initiated outside of the field and brought the creature inside would be spent. This is considered a charm effect.

This Aspect can be activated as often as desired and it lasts for as long as desired. However, it automatically deactivated if the singer of concordance attempts a violent action himself, which automatically fails, or moves more than 20 feet from the square he was in when he activated the Aspect. This field does not affect any violent action initiated from outside of the field, violent actions caused by things with no Intelligence (i.e. hazards, traps) or other actions not considered violent as per the Invisibility spell.

Healing: The singer of concordance generates a field that promotes healing while disrupting undead. Any positive energy affect initiated within the field, whether to heal the living or harm the undead, does one additional die (d6s for channels, d8s for Cure spells, etc). This Aspect can be activated once per day and lasts for 24 hours, but is deactivated if the singer of concordance goes unconscious or initiates a negative energy or death effect, regardless of the method used.

Exclusion: The singer of concordance generates a field that interferes with hostile spells and powers. This acts as a Globe of Invulnerability, but with a radius equal to the field. This Aspect can be activated once per day and lasts for 1 round per level, but is immediately dismissed if the singer of concordance moves more than 20 feet from the square he was in when he activated the Aspect.

Safety: The singer of concordance generates a field that prevents entry. Any creature not designated by the singer of concordance as an ally that attempts to enter the field, regardless of method, takes force damage equal to 1d6 per caster level. A Will save halves this damage. This damage is only taken when entering the field, not while moving inside or leaving it.

This Aspect can be activated once per day and it lasts for 1 minute per caster level, but is immediately dismissed if the singer of concordance moves more than 10 feet from the square he was in when he activated the Aspect or if he uses it to press the field against a creature, which does no damage as it dismisses.

Sphere of Concordance (Su): At 10th level, the singer of concordance has completed his journey to understanding the influence of the spheres, planes and events and, thus, has built a refuge that can separate him from the events of the world. The singer of concordance gains access to a small, permanent demiplane located in the Ethereal Plane. This functions as the Greater Create Demiplane, shaped to its owner's desire, with the following exceptions.

    • The demiplane is always shaped as a hemisphere with a diameter of 500 feet.

    • The demiplane is always mildly neutral-aligned.

    • The demiplane is always positive-dominant and morphic and always has normal gravity, normal time, enhanced magic in regards to effects that use positive energy and impeded magic in regards to effects that use negative energy.

    • The demiplane is not elemental-dominant for any element.

    • The demiplane does not have a portal.

    • The demiplane generates the fields of the Peace, Refuge, Healing, Exclusion and Safety Aspect of Concordance that covers the entire demi-plane.

    • The demiplane cannot be altered in a way that violates on of the above limitations.

The singer of concordance can enter or leave his demiplane as a standard action that does not provoke. When leaving the demiplane, the singer of concordance always returns to the same place he was at when he last entered the demiplane. He can bring with him, in either direction, up to 8 willing creatures and material up to the combined heavy load of those creatures with each standard action. This is considered a 7th level conjuration (teleportation) effect. Other creatures attempting to reach the demiplane must have either been there before or use a Wish, Miracle or similar effect to enter. Other attempts will end on a randomly determined portion of the Ethereal Plane.
