The spell increases the hardness of materials by 1 point per caster level. This spell does not alter the number of hit points the item has or change any resistance or vulnerabilities the item has against other forms of transmutation or damage (ice still melts, wood still burns, metal still rusts, etc). If cast on an organic or stone object, the maximum size is 10 cubic feet per caster level. If cast on an object that is made of metal or mineral (like gemstones), then the maximum size is 1 cubic foot per caster level. The maximum hardness that an object can have through this spell is five times the normal hardness for organic or stone objects and twice the normal hardness for metal or mineral objects.
