Special Notes / Rules: Dragonmarked

Description:

This woven and jeweled collar can expand and contract, twist and reshape itself to be able to fit any creature of the animal type. Once placed on an animal, it takes that animal's neck slot for the purposes of other magical items and the embedded Siberys dragonshard comes out. When wielded or carried by someone with the Dominate Animal dragonmarked spell-like ability, that Siberys dragonshard allows the wielder to control the bound animal as if under a permanent Dominate Animal, no saving throw or spell resistance, without expending any of the uses of his dragonmarked spell-like ability. However if the animal is more than 150' away from the wielder of the Siberys dragonshard or if the wielder no longer has the Siberys dragonshard, the effects of the permanent Dominate Animal are immediately removed.

There are three ways to place this collar on an animal. Fist, the animal submits to being collared, which requires a friendly attitude. Second, the animal can be pinned in a grapple and the collar applied instead of the normal action to do damage during a pin. Lastly, if the animal is asleep, an opposed Perception check for the animal (at -20 for being asleep) against the wielder's Stealth check (at -20 for being up close and personal to the animal) will determine if the beast is collared before it wakes up.

The collar is constructed out of reinforced leather (hardness 8, 20 hit points) and the locking mechanism can only be open with the Siberys dragonshard or a Disable Device check, DC: 40. The wielder of the Siberys dragonshard immediately knows the status of the collar (being damaged or picked).

Construction Requirements: Craft Wondrous Item, Dominate Animal, creator must have the Mark of Handling.

Construction Cost: 2,000 gp; a Siberys dragonshard worth at least 500 gp.
