You alter a magical item that employs an energy type or grants protection from an energy type, to employ or protect against a different energy type. For example, you could change a Flaming Burst Longsword +2 into a Shocking Burst Longsword +2 or a Ring of Energy Resistance (Acid) to a Ring of Energy Resistance (electricity). Only the five core energy types (acid, cold, electricity, fire and sonic) can be chosen for this alteration and all other effects remain the same.

The wielder of a targeted magical item is allowed a Will save to negate this change, if so desired.
