Vour

The infantry scattered when it first saw them. A flock of skinless humanoids with tentacles where arms and legs would be. Sargent d'Deneith knew that the Karrnathi necromancers could pull some devilish tricks but this... was something new. The way they descended from moonlit night in behind the first line of shield bearers... the poor souls that they snatched up and tore into. He could hear their cries in the clouds far above. But what was worst was when this abominations let go of their prey.. just letting the bodies fall from the sky.

It took all night to fend them off and the survivors had just started venturing out onto the battlefield to recover the bodies for a proper funeral... and that's when the screaming restarted.

Create Spawn (Su): Any humanoid killed by the energy drain of a vour becomes a vour 1d4 hours after death and is under the command of the vour that created it. The process is nearly instantaneous and the new vour looses any abilities of its former life. If the original vour that created the spawn is slain, the spawn becomes a free-willed vour.

Improved Grab (Ex): Vours gain a +4 bonus to make grapple checks due to their multiple tentacles that are lined with suckers. If successful, vours will bite during the grapple until the victim is dead. A vour can still fly while maintaining a grapple, but at a -10 to any Fly checks.

One of the first experiments in official Karrnathi military necromancy, the vour is a bloody mass, roughly human, with tentacles instead of limbs. The mouth can dislocate like a snake and is full of rows of savage teeth. And even though it has only one eye, it has no problem with depth perception. An intelligent undead, capable of regenerating the ranks through those it kills, the vour is one type of Karrnathi shock trooper. Able to fly through will alone, these predators prefer night time attacks or days that particularly overcast, giving them the benefit of assaulting quickly from the sky, grabbing victims and continue to fly with their prey while biting them. Once the victim is dead from energy drain, they let him drop on other likely targets to frighten them into scattering. While vours can withstand a direct onslaught for a little while, they prefer hit and run tactics.
