By touching a pinecone and charging with an immense amount of magical energy, you turn it into a bomb. The bomb can thrown as a normal thrown weapon with a 20 foot range increment. It only needs to resolve via a ranged touch attack. If successful, the creature struck takes 1d6 points of piercing damage per caster level. Any other creature within 20 feet of where the pinecone strikes takes 1 point of damage per caster level with a Reflex save for half damage (the struck target does not get a saving throw). Because this damage is purely physical, spell resistance does not apply but damage reduction does. The pinecone bomb is only considered magical and piercing for the purposes of overcoming damage reduction. The pinecone bomb does damage inanimate objects and creatures in the area of effect equally.

Any horizontal terrain that is covered in the 20 foot radius of the explosion is now littered with shrapnel, turning it into difficult terrain and causing 1d8 points of piercing damage for each 5 feet of movement through the area. This part of the effect lasts until the shrapnel is swept aside or otherwise carefully removed.
