This spell must be cast on an object that has already received a spell or power that either protects the item or set to trigger in response to fixed conditions, like a Symbol or Fire Trap spell. This spell masks the presence the energy that is protecting item from magical or psionic detection. If examined by such an effect, a caster level check (DC 15 + your caster level) is needed to see the effect. If successful, the examination reveals both the original protection and the Hidden Ward. Likewise, it increases the Perception DC to notice it, like in the case of magical traps, by one half your caster level, round down. If the original effect is somehow dispelled or suppressed, the Hidden Ward is also dispelled or suppressed for the same period of time.

Hidden Ward can be made permanent via Permanency for 1,000 gp. This does not change the duration of the effect that Hidden Ward conceals.
