This spell allows the caster to cause a massive jolt of lighting to any creature touched. Once per round, the caster can attempt a melee touch attack to release a discharge of electricity. If successful, he inflicts 1d6 points of electrical damage per 2 caster levels (max 10d6). The target of spell must also make a Fortitude save or be staggered for 1 round. A successful save negates the staggered condition and halves the damage. Spell resistance, if any, is checked on each successful attack. If the attack misses, the discharge is not wasted.

So long as the caster has at least one discharge left, he is considered armed for the purposes of threatening and attacks of opportunity. The decision whether or not to use this ability must be made before the attack roll and the caster cannot benefit from more than one Storm Touch at a time. The caster cannot release a discharge of Storm Touch and a discharge of another melee touch effect with the same attack. Unlike other spells where the caster holds the charge of a touch attack, this spell does not discharge if the caster touches something he does not want to damage.
