By sprinkling the dust of either a Siberys or Khyber dragonshard over a target creature of the animal type, you give it the half-dragon template for the duration of the spell, with the following alterations.

  • The creature is still considered to be of the animal type.

  • The creature gains a +8 to Str, +6 to Con and +2 to Chr.

  • The creature gains a +4 bonus to its existing natural armor bonus.

  • The creature gains darkvision 60', low-light vision, immunity to sleep and paralysis.

  • If the creature did not already have at least one bite attack and at least two claw attacks, it now gains one bite attack and up to a total of two claw attacks, appropriate to its size category.

    • If the creature did not already have a fly speed, it now gains one at twice its best movement rate (average maneuverability).

    • The creature does not automatically gain a breath weapon or immunity to an elemental type (see below).

If this spell is cast by someone with the Mark of Handling, the creature also gains a breath weapon ability, as per the half-dragon template, and immunity the associated elemental type. The breath weapon can be used once per day and deals 1d6 per HD. A successful Reflex save, DC 10 + 1/2 the creature's HD + the creature's modified Con, reduces this to half. The type of breath weapon and the elemental immunity is dependent on the choice of dragon, made at the time of casting.
