Wingwyrd

"Greetings, stranger."

Filon whipped around outside of the small church. No one in sight up and down the street and no one would be at the church this late.

"My apologies if my accent is off, but I did greet you properly, didn't I?"

"Who...who... said that?"

"I did."

Filon looked around, both scared and frustrated at the obvious joke being played on him. "I... who?"

"Oh... sorry. Still getting used to your kind not looking up very often."

And with that, Filon's gaze moved up above the doors to the church. And among the stone decorations of angels and saints, a silver-tinged gargoyle stretched its wings... reflective in the moonlight... and sit back down on the edge of the roof... munching on an apple...

"Want some?"

Wingwyrds are distant cousins of gargoyles that are naturally infused with silver and are naturally predisposed to accept the faith of the Silver Flame. As such, they serve the church as guardians, diplomats and messengers. However, when they encounter an actual gargoyle, they are quick to respond with either fear or violence, based on the likelihood of success.
