Heir of Siberys

Description:

Occasionally, fate will pick someone, not at birth or at the end of their training but later on in life. But on Eberron, fate is known as the Draconic Prophecy and those that it chooses are known as the Heirs of Siberys. Covered by huge colored swirls that can cover an entire torso, those that have been picked to bear these marks are always related, however distantly, to the dragonmarked houses of the same mark. Their relationship with their extended family is often strained or sometimes completely unknown until their Siberys mark manifests. But once it does, everyone will stand and take notice of what decisions they make.

Role: Heirs of Siberys do not have a specific role. Instead, the presence of their Siberys mark takes whatever role and makes it better. At the very least, it gives those that have no skill in the practice of their house some significant talent to replace it with.

Alignment: Heirs of Siberys come from all walks of life and from all corners of Khorvaire and are not bound to any alignment. The only thing in common between them is that they are all destined for greatness and, thus, there have only been a handful of neutral Heirs of Siberys over the centuries.

Hit Dice: d8

Requirements:

To qualify to become a heir of Siberys, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Race: Member of appropriate dragonmarked race (dwarf, elf, gnome, halfling, half-elf, half-orc or human).

Skills: 12 ranks in two skills.

Feats: Hero's Fortune.

Special: You cannot have any dragonmark feats, regardless of true or aberrant dragonmarks, when you take the first level in this prestige class. This specifically means that characters with either the Least Aberrant Dragonmark or Least True Dragonmark feat cannot start taking levels in this prestige class (see Siberys Mark class feature).

Class Skills:

The Heir of Siberys' class skills (and the key abilities for each skill) are Intimidate (Chr), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (history) (Int), Linguistics (Int), Perception (Wis) and Spellcraft (Int).

Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

Table: The Heir of Siberys

Class Features:

All of the following are class features of the heir of Siberys prestige class.

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Heirs of Siberys do not gain any new proficiencies with weapons or armor.

Spells per Day / Spells Known: At the indicated levels, an heir of Siberys gains new spells per day as if he had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain other benefits a character of that class would have gained, except for additional spells per day, spells known (if he is a spontaneous caster), and an increased effective level of spellcasting. If he had more than one spellcasting class before becoming a heir of Siberys, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for the purpose of determining spells per day. Once this decision is made, it cannot be changed. Artificers and their infusions count as an arcane spellcasting class for this prestige class.

If, and only if, the heir of Siberys has no spellcasting class when he takes his first level in this prestige class, this entire class feature is replaced with one bonus feat at the indicated levels. He cannot voluntarily choose to take bonus feats instead of spellcasting levels. He must still qualify for the bonus feat normally.

Additional Hero Point (Ex): At 1st level, Heirs of Siberys gain 1 additional hero point each time they level and adds 1 to the maximum number of hero points he can have at any one time. This stacks with with any feats or spells that improve your hero points.

Feat Restriction: If you would normally gain a feat this level (typical with the 1st level of this prestige class being your 13th character level), you may not spend that feat slot on any dragonmark feats. This specifically means that you cannot choose the Least True Dragonmark or Least Aberrant dragonmark feats at this level. This restriction only applies to feat slots that you gain that this level. It does not apply to feat slots you gain at subsequent levels.

Siberys Mark (Sp): At 2nd level, you gain a Siberys Dragonmark and with it, a Siberys dragonmark spell-like ability. This counts as a true dragonmark, as you are limited by your race as to which type of Siberys Dragonmark and this choice determines which house you belong to, however distantly. Once this choice is made, it cannot be changed. The DC for any applicable saving throw is 10 + the spell level + your Chr modifier. The caster level for this spell-like ability is 9 + 1/2 your character level, rounded down, and the spell level is the lowest level available in case the spell appears on multiple lists.

If you later take the Least, Lesser or Greater True Dragonmark feats, you must take those appropriate to your true Siberys dragonmark. Your caster level for all of your dragonmark spell-like abilities is 9 + 1/2 your character level, rounded down, as well. This supersedes the caster level definition provided by those feats. Since you now have a true dragonmark, you are not able to take any aberrant dragonmark feats, unless you can do so without qualifying for them.

House Decision: At 3rd level, your new Siberys mark has definitely caught the attention of your dragonmarked house. As such, you will need to determine whether or not you have joined your house or have rebelled against it, because they certainly will not simply let you be. If you choose to join your dragonmarked house, you gain the Favored In House feat with that dragonmarked house as a bonus feat. If you already have the Favored In House feat, add 20 to both your CPA and TPA in regards to your dragonmarked house. If you choose to rebel against it, you gain the Dragonmark Mastery feat as a bonus feat, but loose all CPA and TPA you may have had with your dragonmarked house. Once this choice has been made, it cannot be changed.

Improved Siberys Mark: At 3rd level, you can use your Siberys dragonmark spell-like ability one additional time per day.
