Illumine Soul

Description:

For some, manifesting a mind blade is more than just an act of will; it is embracing one's internal light and forging it into a weapon. For others, the destruction of the undead is more than just a job; it is instinct. And for those who are both, the way of the Illumine Soul takes the light of will into the darkness of the enemy and out again the other side. For they are those whose light lives on still.

Role: Illumine Souls are warriors that take the path of the soulknife and hone it specifically to combating the undead. They are not afraid of getting into the front line, although they are equally effective striking unseen. While it is not always the case, many see the illumine soul as a psychic paladin.

Alignment: Illumine Souls are never evil, but for some, the weight of combating the forces of darkness can muddy the light of even the purest soul.

Requirements:

To qualify to become an illumine soul, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.

Alignment: Any non-evil.

Skills: Knowledge (psionics) 5 ranks, Knowledge (religion) 5 ranks.

Special: Either form mind blade class feature or form mind bolt class feature, enhanced mind blade (+2), psychic strike +1d8.

Class Skills:

The illumine soul's class skills (and the key abilities for each skill) are Acrobatics (Dex), Autohypnosis (Wis), Climb (Str), Craft (Int), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (psionics) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Perception (Wis), Profession (Wis) and Stealth (Dex).

Skill Points at Each Level: 4 + Int modifier.

Class Features:

All of the following are class features of the illumine soul prestige class.

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Illumine souls does not gain any new weapon or armor proficiencies.

Improved Mind Blade: The illumine soul class levels stack with other class levels when determining the benefits of the Enhanced Mind Blade class feature.

Positive Energy Conduit (Su): Mindless undead are affected by the illumine souls' mind blade(s) and psychic strike as if they were sentient undead.

Psychic Strike: At 1st and at 4th level, the psychic strike of the illumine souls increases by +1d8.

Death Ward (Su): At 2nd level, an illumine soul can expend his psionic focus to protect himself as if he had the Death Ward spell for 1 minute. This protection does not apply to saving throws to resist permanent negative levels after the 24 hour period, even if used exactly 24 hours after the original temporary negative level was inflicted.

Channel Positive Energy (Su): At 2nd level, the illumine soul gains the ability to channel positive energy, as per the cleric class ability of the same name. The illumine soul can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + his Chr modifier. The DC for the effect is 10 + his class level + his Chr modifier. The number of dice rolled is 1d6 per bonus of his Enhanced Mind Blade class feature.

In all other ways, this is identical to channel positive energy and counts as such for feats or special abilities. The illumine soul's holy symbol is his mind blade.

Undead Mind Bane: At 3rd level, the mind blade(s) of the illumine soul is always considered to have the Bane (undead) special weapon quality. This is in addition to and factored separately from his Enhanced Mind Blade class ability.

Positive Energy Healing (Su): At 4th level, the illumine soul carries a link to his source of positive energy inside himself. Once per day, when the illumine soul ever drops below 0 hit points, the link acts as a Breath of Life effect, immediately healing him for 5d8+5 hit points of damage. This can keep an illumine soul from dying, so long as the healing done is enough to bring him to his negative Constitution score or greater.

Positive Energy Ray (Su): At 5th level, the illumine soul can expend his psionic focus as a standard action that does not provoke to fire a ray of positive energy. The ray has a range of 60 feet, resolves as a ranged touch attack and deals 2d6 points of positive damage per class level. The illumine soul can use this ability a number of times per day equal to his class level.
