Description:

This metal helmet has a strange single blue crystal, mounted between the eye sockets. It is clear that this helmet is ancient, but if worn by a warforged, the wearer's gultha symbol is clearly visible on the crystal, despite the fact that the actual symbol is covered by the helmet. Whenever a living construct wears the Defense of the Makers, it gets the Bane (Humanoid (Giant)) special weapon quality on any weapon or natural attack that he uses. In addition, the wearer gains a +4 dodge bonus to AC, a +8 inherent bonus to Strength and a +8 insight bonus to CMB and CMD, but only for resolving combat maneuvers against giants and gear in their possession. Lastly, three times per day, the wielder can cast Mythic Confusion on a giant, provided he is successful with a melee touch attack (no save, no spell resistance, bypassing any immunities, mythic or otherwise).

While worn, the wielder completely vulnerable to possession. All immunities to possession are negated, any Will save automatically fails and any spell resistance is automatically bypassed. This even undoes the protection from Protection of Evil, Magic Circle Against Evil and similar protections, both mythic and non-mythic. While possessed, the invading entity can stay in the Controller mode indefinitely.

While it is not entirely known who created the helmet or how it was created, it is widely believed by the giants of Xen'Drik that the helmet was made to turn their ancient creations against them. Legends say that the helmet can be only be destroyed by one such living construct, but only one that has already killed everyone involved in it's original construction and then remade itself, so that it is now both creator and created.
