Keeper's Fang

Aura: Strong Necromancy; CL: 17th

Price: +4 bonus

Special Notes / Rules: None

Source: ECB, pg. 266

Description:

A Keeper's Fang weapon has an empty Khyber dragonshard incorporated into its hilt. If this weapon is used to make the killing blow against a creature that has a soul, that soul is now imprisoned within the Keeper's Fang. In theory, there is no limit to the number of souls any one weapon could hold, but in practice, it is rare to see more than a dozen. Souls captured within the Keeper's Fang cannot be contacted or brought back from the dead without the weapon first being destroyed. This specifically includes Blood Biography, Breath of Life, Clone, Create Treasure Map, Miracle, Speak With Dead, Raise Dead, Reincarnation, Resurrection, True Resurrection and Wish.

Creating a Keeper's Fang weapon is considered an evil act as is intentionally using it as part of a killing blow. The weapon itself is evil-aligned for the purposes of damage reduction and is often decorated with the symbol of the Keeper, making those that worship the Sovereign Host or the Dark Six immediately aware of what it is on a clear examination. However, some rulers have been known to keep such a weapon to deal with the most dire enemies.

This special quality can only be placed on piercing or slashing melee weapons and requires a Khyber dragonshard worth at least 2,500 gp that is part of the construction cost.

Construction Requirements: Craft Arms and Armor, Align Weapon, Soul Bind
