Dream Serpent

The Coin Lord was impressed. It was rare to see a live dream serpent in captivity, but to see a small clutch, living in an enclosed terrarium the size of some people's houses was another. "So how much for the hatchlings?"

The dark skinned elf finished a long draw from a hookah and relaxed on the pillows around his study. "Ahhhh.... the hatchlings are hard to keep. They take a great deal of care by one who knows how to handle the serpent."

"Understood... but how much?"

"For one", the drow spoke between breaths, feeling the drug enter through his lungs, "a thousand gold."

And with out batting an eye, the Coin Lord dropped a purse to the exact amount. "Done." A thousand gold was a worthy investment for the tens of thousands the milk of a dream serpent would be worth over its life time.

Dream serpents are a large species of snake found in the rivers and swamps of Xen'Drik. While competent hunters, they avoid sentient predators and other creatures that display more cunning and intelligence then they do. Prized for their venom and the hallucigenic state it can put people in, dream serpents are also sometimes kept as exotic pets, despite being temperamental in enclosed environments.
