Gatekeeper Mystagogue

Description:

Gatekeeper mystagogues hail from an ancient druidic tradition that stretches back to the time of the Dhakaani empire and the rise of the daelkyrs of Xoriat. Sworn to stand against the forces of madness, they were instrumental in pushing back the the forces of aberrations and locking their entrances behind powerful dimensional seals that still exist to this day. Sadly, their efforts did not prevent the Dhakaani empire from collapsing in the aftermath, but their goal was never about the politics of the mortal world, only is ensuring that the dealkyr of Xoriat and those that serve them did not unmake all that exists in nature.

In the current age, their numbers are far fewer, but their job is no less important. The dimensional seals created by their forebearers require diligence and care, lest they collapse and new horrors are birthed into the world. This often means than a single gatekeeper mystagogue must maintain as many as a half dozen of these seals, constantly chasing away dolgaunts and dolghasts from learning how to reopen the ways for their masters.

Role: Gatekeeper mystagogues are druids specifically dedicated to the eradication of all aberrations. They are equally competent in a fight as well as against spellcasters, as the minions of Xoriat are often one and the same. Their mission takes them across all of Khorvaire, and occasionally away from it, making sure that those from the Plane of Madness do not ever regain a foothold in our world.

Spells per Day / Spells Known: At the indicated levels, a gatekeeper mystagogue gains new spells per day as if she had also gained a level in a spellcasting class he belonged to before adding the prestige class. He does not, however, gain other benefits a character of that class would have gained, except for additional spells per day, spells known (if he is a spontaneous caster), and an increased effective level of spellcasting. If he had more than one divine spellcasting class before becoming a gatekeeper mystagogue, he must decide to which class he adds the new level for the purpose of determining spells per day. Once this decision is made, it cannot be changed.

Animal Companion Benefit: Starting at 1st level, your gatekeeper mystagogue levels stack with those that determine your animal companion.

Channel Purity (Su): Starting at 1st level, the gatekeeper mystagogue is able to use one of his uses of Repel Aberration to channel nature's purity, This is identical to the cleric's channel energy class ability, using the effective druid level for Repel Aberration, to harm the undead, except that it only harms creatures of the aberration type.

Repel Aberration Benefit: Starting at 1st level, your gatekeeper mystagogue class levels count with your druid levels for determining the effects of your Repel Aberration feat.

Invest Byeshk (Su): At 2nd level, as a swift action, you can spend a use of your Repel Aberration feat to make any one touched weapon, made primarily of metal, to become made of byeshk for 1 minute. This effects continues even if you are no longer touching the weapon. To use this ability, you must be wielding the piece of byeshk metal that you use for the Repel Aberration feat.

Natural Byeshk (Su): At 2nd level, the natural attacks of the gatekeeper mystagogue and his animal companion count as byeshk for the purposes of damage reduction. While it is possible for the gatekeeper mystagogue's natural form to have a natural attack, it is more common when he is using a wild shape ability. This does not affect weapons.

Venom Immunity (Ex): At 3rd level, the gatekeeper mystagogue and his animal companion become immune to poison.

Circle of Nature (Su): Starting at 4th level, the gatekeeper mystagogue is able to spend a standard action that does not provoke to use one use of his Repel Aberration feat to focus his channel purity class ability into an arc between himself and his animal companion. This ability requires a direct line of effect between the gatekeeper mystagogue and his animal companion and this arc only affects creatures of the aberration type that occupy squares that this direct line goes through.

The range of this arc is close, so 25 + 5' per 2 effective druid levels for the Repel Aberration feat. Each aberration along this line takes damage equal to the gatekeeper mystagogue's channel purity class ability and become subject to one or more condition effects. The damage can be halved and the condition effect avoided with a successful Will save with a DC equal to that of your Repel Aberration feat. The conditions are based on the gatekeeper mystagogue's class level.

Circle of Nature (nauseated): At 4th level, those that fail their saving throw are nauseated for 1 round.

Circle of Nature (disruption): At 7th level, those that fail their saving throw are nauseated for 1 round and take a -20 to any concentration checks until the following round thereafter.

Circle of Nature (stunned): At 10th level, those that fail their saving throw are stunned for 1 round, nauseated for the round thereafter and take a -20 to any concentration checks until the following round after that.
