Description:

Channeling rods are similar to metamagic rods, except that they apply only to the spell-like abilities of those with dragonmarks (either true or aberrant). Just as metamagic rods, Channeling rods can be used up to three times per day as a use-activated item as part of the activation of the spell-like ability. Each channeling rod as a maximum level of dragonmarked spell-like ability that it can modify; either Least, Lesser, Greater or Siberys.

Channeling rods are not attuned to a specific dragonmark, so they are equally useful to all true and aberrant dragonmarks. However, a Least Channeling rod can only modify least dragonmarked spell-like abilities. A Lesser Channeling rod can modify least and lesser dragonmarked spell-like abilities, while a Greater Channeling rod can modify least, lesser and greater dragonmarked spell-like abilities. A Siberys Channeling rod can modify any dragonmarked spell-like abilities, but can only be used by those that have a Siberys dragonmark.

The metamagic feat held in the rod must be a valid choice for the spell that the spell-like ability duplicates. Thus, using an Least Empower Channeling rod is appropriate for the Repair Light Damage spell-like ability from the Mark of Making, where a Least Enlarge Channeling rod would not. Only one Channeling rod can be used a spell-like ability use at a time.

The price for a Channeling rod is based on the metamagic feat that it duplicates and the degree of the dragonmark that it is capable of modifying, as detailed in the table below.

Thus, a Lesser Channeling Rod of Empower Spell would be 4,500 gp (1,500 gp x3), where a Siberys Channeling Rod of Quicken Spell would be 94,500 gp (13,500 gp x7).

Construction Requirements: Craft Rod, the Metamagic Feat to be duplicated, creator must have a dragonmark at least as power as the rod's maximum power.

Construction Cost: The talismanic construction cost of a Channeling Rod is always a Siberys dragonshard worth at least 10% of the final base price of Channeling Rod. The remaining construction cost is equal to one half the final price of the Channeling Rod, minus the cost of the Siberys dragonshard. Thus, a Lesser Channeling Rod of Empower Spell has a combined construction cost of 1,800 gp and a Siberys dragonshard worth at least 450 gp, while a Siberys Channeling Rod of Quickened Spell has a combined construction cost of 37,800 gp and a Siberys dragonshard worth at least 9,450 gp.
