Disc of Absorptive Negation

Description: This metal disc, five inches across, is only useful when wielded as part of casting a spell. When created, the disc is empty. If wielded during a successful use of Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic, the disc absorbs the highest single spell that was dispelled, becoming charged with a single spell slot of that spell level. At any point in time during the next 24 hours while the disc is charged, a spellcaster that is wielding the disc as part of the casting can use the spell slot in the disc to power the spell if the spell being cast is of an equal or lesser spell level than the one stored in the disc. For spontaneous spellcasters, this just frees up a spell slot as per a Runestone of Power. For memorization casters, this replicates a memorized spell, as per a Pearl of Power. In either case, the Disc of Absorptive Negation is destroyed as part of the casting when used to power a spell in this way.

If the Disc absorbs a spell, but is not used within the 24 hours, the energy fades without destroying the Disc of Absorptive Negation. If the spell level stored in the Disc is higher than the spell being cast, the remaining spell levels are lost when the Disc is destroyed.

Greater Discs of Absorptive Negation grant a +4 circumstance bonus to the caster level check made as part of the casting of the Dispel Magic or Greater Dispel Magic, but are destroyed at either the end of the 24 hour period or when used to cast a spell, whichever comes first.
