Formation
Noun + で
Verb て form
い adj stem + くて
な adj stem + で
Examples
Noun + で
事故で電車が遅れました。
じこで でんしゃがおくれました。
The train was delayed due to the accident.
雷で停電しました。
かみなりで ていでんしました。
The power outage occurred due to a lightning.
台風で橋が壊れました。
たいふうで はしがこわれました。
Because of typhoon the bridge broke down.
父はけがで入院しました。
ちちは けがでにゅういんしました。
My father was hospitalized due to an injury.
Verb て form
試験に合格してうれしいです。
しけんにごうかくして うれしいです。
I'm happy because I passed the exam.
走って疲れました。
はしってつかれました。
I was tired because I ran.
遅れてごめんなさい。
おくれてごめんなさい。
Sorry for the delay. ( I want to apologize because I was late)
そのニュースを読んでとても悲しいです。
そのニュースをよんで とてもかなしいです。
I 'm so sad because I read the news.
い adj stem + くて
この料理は辛くて食べられません。
このりょうりは からくてたべられません。
I can't eat this dish beause it's spicy.
かばんが小さくて本が入りません。
かばんがちいさくて ほんがはいりません。
I can't put a book in because my bag is small.
な adj stem + で
歩くのが嫌いで、よくタクシーに乗る。
あるくのがきらいで、よくタクシーにのる。
I hate walking so I often take a taxi.
明日の面接が心配で、寝られません。
あすのめんせつがしんぱいで、ねられません。
I can't sleep because I'm worried about tomorrow's interview.

After this grammar, the following meanings are not used:
instruction, request, will, suggestion and prohibition
× つまらなくて、勉強しません。
〇つまらないから、勉強しません。
I don't study because it's boring.
× 京都はいい所で、一緒に行きましょう。
〇京都はいい所だから、一緒に行きましょう。
Kyoto is a good place, so let's go together.
× この荷物、重くて持ってください。
〇この荷物、重いから持ってください。
Please bring this baggage because it's heavy.
