犯人は三日間闘争を続けた末、逮捕された。
はんにんは みっかかん とうそうをつづけたすえ、たいほされた。
The criminal was arrested after fleeing for three days.
毎日残業した末に、病気になってしまった。
まいにち ざんぎょうしたすえに、びょうきになってしまった。

①末に is usually used when someone does something or something takes place after long, hard mental or physical work.
