かのようだ、かのように
Meaning: as if, just like
It is used to describe that it is not A but looks like A.
Formation
Verb + かのようだ
いadj + かのようだ
なadj stem + であるかのように
Noun + であるかのように
Examples
２月なのに暖かくて、まるで春であるかのようだ。
にがつなのに あたたかくて、まるで はるであるかのようだ。
Even though it's February, it's warm like spring.
あのろう人形は本物そっくりで、いまにも動き出すかのようだ。
あの ろうにんぎょうは ほんものそっくりで、いまにも うごきだすかのようだ。
That wax model looks just like the person himself and seems to start moving at any moment.
今田さんは、何でも知っているかのように話す。
いまださんは、なんでもしっているかのように はなす。
Mr. Imada speaks as if he knew everything.
山田さんは子どもとオセロをする時、自分が下手であるかのように振る舞う。
