Roy Cousins/Wambesi
V/A - Visions Of Reggae – Wambesi - 1997
As leader of the Royals, Roy Cousins showed he was a talented singer, songwriter and producer. About five years ago he began to concentrate more on the latter role as producer. And in that time he has carried many a fine young singer into the studio, with his greatest success coming with DJ Charlie Chaplin. What this album does over its 14 tracks is show just how many people Roy has produced over that time, and the variety and the high standard of production set by Roy. Two tracks perfectly illustrate this. Winston Francis’s ’I Don’t Know Why’ and Ken Parker’s ’What Kind Of World’, which are really outstanding. But the whole set is a magnificent collection.
