Turbo Belly – Judgement Day – VP – 1995
Its funny how the mind can play tricks with you. If anyone had asked me about the kind of style the Sizzla uses – a strange mixture of preaching and ranting – and then asked me about the first person to use it – my answer would be Sizzla. Yet Sizzla's breakthrough albums came in 1997/8 – and here is the same style two years earlier – from a deejay who even most reggae fans would have heard of!! Produced by the Jammys camp – Jammy/Uncle T/Jam One – its got all the right rhythms – and works well – but what happened to Turbo? And did he indeed come up with this style – a style like it or not that embedded itself into the reggae sound.
