Apple Gabriel - Another Moses - RAS - 1999
Twenty years or more from the time of Israel Vibration's debut album 'Same Song' one of the most distinctive vocal group sets from that era - and one that made a big impact because it was actually released at the time. Albums like The Congoes 'Heart Of The Congoes' was only available occasionally during this time. Which sadly lessened the impact of that album. Just like Cedric Myton of The Congoes - Apple Gabriel possesses a very unusual lead vocal. It's almost like some built in delay. And on this set - he uses it to full advantage. Here he is singing over rhythms recorded at Leggo Beast's studio in Kingston and then mixed at Lion & Fox in the US. They recall the kind of rhythms that graced the 'Same Song' set all those years ago. Lyrically it's all about the message - a fine selection of cultural and reality songs.
