Frankie Jones – Them Nice – Sunset – 1985
Frankie Jones output prior to the release of this album has been incredible, considering that from the late seventies till now his entire works stood at just one album 'Satta And Praise Jah' for Bunny Leee, and a small collection of singles for Freedom Sounds. 'Them Nice' is for Brent Dowe and uses a few of the rhythm tracks from the Melodians album on RAS, but with fresh and crisp remixing that are transferred into dance hall rhythms which Frankie voices in a appropriate style, giving the whole album a good vibe
Frankie Jones – Dance Cork – World Enterprise – 1986
With Frankie now recording in a dance hall style. Sooner or later he had to team up again with Bunny Lee, and this is the result. The only problem it has got it that despite releasing a number of great album with a selection of artists, Bunny Lee could never quite match people like Junjo or George Phang. And Frankie's got the same kind of problem. He makes good records, but he's still not thought of as a roots singer. Although 'Dance Cork' was a big success on single – so perhaps this LP could do it for him.
Frankie Jones – The Best Of – Volume 1 – Trojan -1987 Despite the title this is in fact a new album, produced by Keith Wignall, and is another fine set from Mr Jones. An eight track set that is an interesting mix of songs, which are well sung and are ably backed by the likes of Leroy Wallace on drums, Flabba on Bass. While Keith aka The Gorgon produced well. An LP like this could have done the business for all concerned, provided it had some promotion a decent sleeve, it didn't, and that means the everyone loses out.
Frankie Jones – Who Nuh Hear Me Yet – Wackies – 1989 Yet another dance hall selection from Frankie Jones, but this time with the added attraction of Wackies rhythms. And for many people that is a big attraction, for like Studio One, Wackies has it's own sound and in the early eighties that sound was part of the emerging dance hall scene, but by the late eighties it wasn't. And so we have another great album from Frankie that will be ignored by people who would love an album like this from him. This type of problem is new to the music, and need urgent attention.
