Lizzie
El Paso was one of the big sound systems of the late sixties early seventies. In the same way that the big producers of the sixties were having to accept big changes – so the sound system scene was changing.
El Paso and sounds like King Tubby and Tippertone were changing things.
The deejays on El Paso, were Dennis, and Lizzie with Samuel The First in third spot and a little youth Dillinger coming in at number four.
Duke Reid took Lizzie into his camp – recording him enough to make a combination set the very first with Dennis called 'Soul To Soul – DJ Choice'.
Meanwhile Joe Gibbs was recording Lizzie extensively – most of the big hits from Nicky Thomas that Joe Gibbs had feature Lizzie deejay cuts.
It would have nice if Gibbo had released a deejay set with Lizzie, but it was to be Prince Far I – and the 'Rockers' era when Joe finally gave us his first deejay set.
We still wait for a set from Lizzie, it should happen the man as got more than enough great tunes. And he fully deserves it.
