Osbert Madoo - You Wanna Turn Me On -
Sonic Sounds - 1982
The Bionic's singer best album and self produced
as well.
Madoo took a big portion of Horace Andy
and a dash of Eek A Mouse and came up
with a vocal ready made for the dance hall.
Why he didn't make it bigger is not really a
mystery when you check the date of release
of this set - 1982.
The dance hall style had been going for
about three years when this came out. And
yet this is an album containing rhythms
made around 78.
Its a sound found on Barrington's album
'Bounty Hunter' - rockers and steppers with
lots of lead guitar which sounds like Dwight
Pinkney or Sowell Radics.
By 1982, it would have sounded very dated.
And yet its a great set. Madoo had tuned into
all what the dance hall was about - and
could also come up with an odd tune like
'Herb Tree'.
Madoo's story of his little herb tree growing
in his pot in his yard. Is a great tune!! One for
all herbal gardeners.
