Joseph Cotton & The Lord Son - Cotton Style - South East Music - 1988.
Truly a remarkable album. Joseph Cotton the DJ with the deep deep voice, who's updated the sing/talk style - produced by Glen Brown, the rhythm master - in the UK. This album is really for anyone who thinks that when it comes to madness in reggae music Lee Perry as the straight jacket. The problem here, is trying to explain it all. You have digital rhythms, and real rhythms, some old, some new. Amazingly it all works. For further information, please read the sleeve notes!
Joseph Cotton - Dancehall Days 1976-1984 - Moll-Selekta - CD. - 1999
Jah Walton was never one of my favourite deejays, but the man Joseph Cotton is and this set shows him at his very very best. A selection that comes from a variety of producers including Sonia Pottinger, Harry Mudie, Carlton Patterson, Bunny Lee and Trevor Elliott. Listening to this your realise that Joseph was the Beenie Man of his day. Sounding at times like Big Youth, U.Roy and everyone in between
