With Jammy on the go in Waterhouse, it wasn't going to be a long wait before he had one of of the Waterhouse style singers on album, and that distinction goes to Nitty Gritty. His 'Hog In A Minty' really did the business for Jammy in 1985 and his debut album was just going to be big. Well 'Turbo Charge' is huge. Full of electronic rhythms, great lyrics and some outstanding vocal performances. Jammy's production skills hit new highs on this set. He Shows with Superpower All Start that music is going forward.

The success of Nitty Gritty was bound to bring him to London. On one such occasion he connected with producer Blacker Dread, and the result was this album, recorded voiced and mixed at Progressive in London. It features the best musical talent to be found here plus some notable names from Jamaica. Nitty Gritty is in great form both vocally and lyrically. And with some hard rhythms – originals and recuts, a creative and enjoyable album is made. A lasting tribute to a great singer.
