Junior Byles – Rasta No Pickpocket – Nighthawk – 1986
Junior has a special place in so many people's hearts. And this 6 track album 'Rasta No Pickpocket' produced by Niney The Observer is the album from Junior that his fans have been waiting for, for so so long. It's got everything, some new songs – 'Thanks and Praise', 'Press Along' and 'Cally Weed' and three recuts 'Rasta No Pickpocket' 'I No Go It' and 'I Don't Know' (What's The World Is Coming To') All sung in that most expressive of voices over crisp powerful Roots Radics rhythms. A superb LP.
Junior Byles – Beat Down Babylon – Trojan – 1987. LP's like 'Beat Down Babylon' should never be out of press or deleted. The result encourages ignorance and the music has suffered enough of that over the years. Thankfully Trojan under the guidance of Steve Barrow had gone one better than a straight reissue of one of the best LP's of the early 70's. They have added 'King Of Babylon' and 'Pharoah Hiding' plus dub, and even better still have included two previously unreleased tracks 'Fun And Games' plus dub, and 'Pretty Fe True' plus dub. Both of which are outstanding.
