Errol Flabba Holt – Roots Radics Dub – Tads
The powerhouse of the Radics - Style Scott and Flabba Holt dominated the Dance Hall Style for about five years.
In that time they must have worked on hundreds of albums. A lot of them were for producers like Henry Junjo Lawes, Linval Thompson, Jah Thomas and Jah Life, and Roy Cousins.
TAD Dawkins was in that group as well – but in the UK it would be fair to say that the TADs label at that time was not that well known.
Much like Junjo he enjoyed the Radics licking over old rhythms.
But by pushing Flabba Holt upfront on this dub set he was doing something new, brand new!
No bass man had been given this kind of credit on an album. And it showed how much Flabba was appreciated then in the reggae music business.
Flabba played a solid bass – often taking complex basslines – and knocking the kinks out of them. Nothing fancy. It wasn't needed.
The Dance Hall style was about the appreciation of the past – and what could be done with it at that time – and Flabba and the Radics did a great job more then they every got it wrong.
