Fred, I can’t believe you have passed. When you phoned me sometime in July - to tell
You had been searching for me on Facebook - and that you had heard I lost my ESA
Claim - I truly appreciated your concern.
And was even more pleased to hear you had won your claim for ESA.
I asked you then if you had heard the new Royals CD - and you said you had heard of
Of it - but not heard it - I said let me send you a copy. Roy Cousins was more than happy
To let me have a few more copies for The Small Axe People.
I mentioned to Roy that Freddy had always been a good supporter of the Reggaezine - Small Axe. And then the books.
And that he had put together a great show for Penny Reel - when Penny’s Dennis Brown
Book Came out - ‘Deep Down With Dennis Brown’.
Of course, you had played and promoted many many artists on your Station FM show.
I couldn’t pick it up - well sometimes I could - but not always.
But you were always kind enough to send on the show on cassette and then on CD.
You actually sent on the show with Penny Reel on minidisc! And when Penny passed you
Couldn’t find the minidisc - and neither could I. But undeterred you uploaded it from cassette.
It was and is a great show Fred. And I know Penny really enjoyed coming on your show
To promote the book.
Anyway when I finally sent on the new Royals CD to you ‘Gish Abbai’ it was with a
Christmas Card. It was December of course.
Little did I know - that you had passed in September. My sincere condolences to
Your family and friends - Fred.
It was always great talking to you - you loved reggae music as much as myself.
You always finished the conversation - with “Nice talking with you Bruv” and it always
Was Fred.
RIP Freddy.
You are and will be missed.
