Conscious Minds
The best band album from the Roots era and possibly any era as got to be this one 'Peace Treaty' produced by BB Seaton in fine style. Released on CD in 1991 - and thankfully still available - this album knocked me for six - when I heard it. It's got everything - great songs, great playing. And for lovers of that early seventies sound- it is a must. Formed in 1969, Conscious Minds then included BB Seaton (Rhythm Guitar/Vocals), Ken Boothe (Organ), Joe White (Keyboard), Maurice Roberts (Bass), Derrick Stewart (Drums) Willie Brackenridge (1st Trumpet) Clive Scott (2nd Trumpet), Winston Bryan (Tenor Sax), Derrick Hinds (Trombone), Shan Fallen (Percussion). This set is a mixture of songs like 'My Jamaican Girl' from the Gaylads - and Joe White's 'Give Thanks' plus incredible instruments like 'Something New' which features the Now Gen sound before Now Gen got going!!! Plus another great tune 'Sweet Stick' BB also adds some very interesting sleeve notes to the CD. A truly essential work.
