King Tubby - The Roots Of Dub & Dub From The Roots - Moll Selekta - 2CD
Dub like Deejaying changed not only reggae music forever, it changed
the music. Full Stop. No matter what had gone on before - it was King
Tubby who pulled all the ideas together and created a new art form.
Just as he did with Deejaying. There he provided inspiration and
encourgment - when it came to the creation of dub - he was to provide
something more concrete. The early dub mixes released on the b-side of
singles - for a wide variety of producers were slowly building up to
these magnificent albums both produced by Bunny Lee. 'The Roots Of
Dub' came out in 1974. By the time second LP 'Dub From The Roots' in
1975 came - dub had revolutionised reggae music - and King Tubby was
at at forefront of this revolution. With releases in the Jamaica, the
UK and the US. Mixed By King Tubby was on many of them, usually the
best ones!!! This two CD release from Moll Selekta is excellent
another digipak four fold - doing King Tubby proud. Together with
superb sound quality itmakes for a truly essential set.
King Tubby - The Dub Master Vol 1 - Orange Street - CD
When it comes to titles this one is 100% you could not get a better
title than 'Dub Master' for King Tubby was all that and more. This set
of 14 dubs comes from the productions of Bunny Lee. Tubby took the
sound of the Argrovators with either Johnny Clarke, Cornell Campbell,
Horace Andy on vocals - just a pick a big name and created something
so new and exitcing that his work is stlll having a massive impact 25
years later. And like all new forms - it was only really loved by the
people. Reggae Fans worldwide gave King Tubby his crown, and he wore
it with pride.
King Tubby & Friends - Dub Like Dirt - 1975-77- Blood & Fire - CD.
Bunny Lee's long association with King Tubby and the engineers, who
operated the studio, will always be of special interest to followers
of dub. During the years 1974 to 1979 he was virtually resident at the
studio. This album is like a cross section of those years, well until
1977. Stand out tracks include 'Chapter Of Money' a cut of 'Money
Money' and 'Stealing Version' a cut of Johnny Clarke's version of
'Stealing'. The graphics and sleevenotes are to the usual standard of
Blood & Fire another classic set.
