Monty Morris - Selection
Monty ‘Eric’ Morris was a massive artist in the ska and rock steady era’s. If he never made another record - after those era’s you could still play Monty Morris for a few days non-stop!!!
When it came to the reggae era - Monty seemed to like to jump from one producer to the next.
It makes a lot of sense, with the amount of music
done in the earlier era’s he should have been able to relax.
Sadly even today there is no Monty Morris album!
A work that could provide an income for a man who as given so much to reggae music.
Still in the reggae era - Monty was still making hits. His main producer is without doubt Clancy Eccles.
With Clancy, Monty had a massive hit ‘Say What You’re Saying’ a very popular tune that as been covered by the likes of Dennis Brown over the years.
Tunes like ‘My Lonely Days, ‘Tears In Your Eyes’ and ‘Simple Simon’ all were very good productions - and its shame that Clancy Eccles did go further who knows perhaps he did.
George Murphy, Alvin Ranglin and Joe Gibbs also had good tunes and in the case of Gibbs a good hit with Monty’s ‘Cinderella’.
