Hortense Ellis
Hortense Ellis Died on Thursday 19th October at Kingston Public
Hospital. She was suffering from a stomach ailment and had to be
re-hospitalised after being released last week. The Mother of 14
children. She is the sister of rock steady star Alton Ellis with whom
she recorded a number of collaborations in early years. Sincere
condolences are sent to her family and Friends.
Born 1949 Trenchtown she also recorded under the names of Queen Tiney
and Mahalia Saunders in 1964 Awarded the Honour of Jamaica's Best
Female Vocalist and in 1969 she was awarded the Silver Cup of
Jamaica's Top Female Vocalist. Her biggest hit "Unexpected Places"
recorded for producer Gussie Clarke.
