Clive Field Marshall - Poorhouse Rockers - Wackies - 1981
Jah Batta, Mikey Jarrett and Santa Ranking were the only dj’s to get albums released on the famous Wackies - NYC. Which is a shame because like Studio One rhythms, Wackies rhythms are built for dj’s. This set dates from the early 80’s and finds Clive Field Marshall coming across in a variety of styles, a touch of Briggy and a couple of other dj’s, possible Lone Ranger. Lyrically he’s his own man. Titles like ‘State Trooper Style’ and ‘Sheep Skin Gone Clear’ could only come from reggae’s NYC connection. ‘Old Man Charlie’ is another unusual theme, from a well forward album.
