For many the Rock Steady years are best summed up in the productions of the Treasure Isle Recording Studio in Bond Street, owned and operated by Duke Reid. In that studio, groups like the Paragons came to create many fine songs. And at long last the best of them are once again available with the release of their best album 'On The Beach'. It’s where your find the likes of 'Only A Smile' with its wonderful horn lines. 'Happy Go Lucky Girl' featuring outstanding but subtle organ playing. Traditional songs 'Yellow Bird' and 'Island In The Sun' are perfectly done. And so it goes on, track after track of pure excellence.

Sooner or later, other producers were to pick up on the old Studio One idea of overdubbing rhythms. Coxsone proved that there was a demand for these sorts of works. This set is really a Treasure Isle album, updated at Channel One, Music Lab and Wackies, with people like Sly & Robbie, Chinna and Clive Hunt. It works very well. The technology is now there, so why not use it. You can guarantee Duke Reid would be doing it!
