Rosco Gordon - Rosco's Rhythm - Charly
Rosco Gordon's impact on Jamaican music is immense. All the R&B U.S. stars of the fifites were and still are well loved in Jamaica, but Rosco was different.
His sound had that heavy bass and drum sound that sound systems love. New Orleans was the musical city that Jamaica related to the most, but outside of that it was Rosco Gordon. It didn't make no difference who he recorded for Sun, Modern, Chess, Rosco's Rhythms - sounded the same. Of course he had a great voice could write some truly crazy lyrics 'I Hate Crackers' perhaps being one of the maddest tunes. With 'Let's Get High' being one of his most popular. He was also a great stager artist - often having a Rooster sitting on his piano.
