Rod Taylor - If Jah Should Come Now - Little Luke - 1980.
'Ethiopian Kings' was the tune that brought Rod Taylor forward, released on Freedom Sounds. He then went on to work with Mikey Dread, with whom he retained his hitmaking status. Now it's the turn of the dread Prince Hammer to produce some great works. This is a ten track reality/cultural set that captures Rod Taylor at his very best. His voice has an element of Horace Andy and in it is mixed a little harshness. Prince Hammer's production is heavyweight throughout but with style.
Rod Taylor - Where Is Your Love Mankind - Greensleeves -1980.
Rod Taylor's lyrics were really a product of the seventies rather than the eighties. No matter what or how he sung then, or how good the production was, he just didn't stand a chance. Thankfully times change and now Rod is getting the chance he fully deserves on the basis of this album, and the set for Prince Hammer. This one is produced by Junjo Lawes, and features Scientist mixing at Channel One. The music here comes from a mix of the Roots Radics and the Revolutionaires.
