Bim Sherman - Love Forever - The Classic Jamaican Recordings - Century
One of Bim Sherman's biggest problems in gaining the recognition he
fully deserves is that all his best stuff was on albums that have been
very hard to get hold of. 'Love Forever' and 'Lovers Leap' these
albums more or less collected the material that Bim had released on
his Scorpio and Red Sea labels on 7" in Jamaica. Now at long last all
that music and more as been collected together on one great CD. Mainly
produced by Bim with contributions form Jaman, Jah Woosh and Black
Lion. This a trip through the mid to late seventies with one of the
best singer songwriters that era produced.

Bim Sherman - Across The Red Sea
By the early eighties Bim had settled in the UK and linked up with producer Adrian Sherwood. With Roots music out of favour, Adrian gave some of the tracks here an alternative feel in the mix, which gave Bim a bigger audience, but at the same time lessened his appeal to the Roots scene. Tracks like 'Golden Locks' and 'Revolution' make this as good an album as his previous works.
While 'Just Like A King' an old favourite for many reggae singers, show a strong sense of tradition."
"Bim Sherman - Haunting Ground - Revolver Very much in the same musical style as 'Across The Red Sea'. What sets it apart though is the more complex nature of the songs. Bim is not into the high level of complexity employed by the likes of I Jah Man Levi or Desmond Dekker, but he's well into making you really listen to what he's singing about. 'Life', written for him by Annie Anxiety is one of two great examples, the other one being the title track. The Roots Radics feature on all tracks, and are in fine form. If only more producers would employ them for works like this."
"Bim Sherman - Love Forever - Tribesman This is a 9 track set, and is the debut album from a very creative singer/songwriter. The rhythms come from the Roots and Rockers era, and feature Bim singing in that wonderful soft style that is always a pleasure to listen to. Titles like '10,000 Ethiopians', 'Mighty Ruler', 'Lightning & Thunder' and 'Fit To Survive' alone really explain the nature of the songs; they're very good examples of a man singing about his faith. Yet with 'My Whole World' he turns a love song into a reality song, which shows how talented he really is."
