Sons Of Mystro – Upstairs Music
When I first came across this set I thought Danny Brackenridge had got hold of the sons of White Rum Raymond!!
Sadly this is not the case, but 'Upstairs Music' Danny Brackenridge as done the next best thing and produced a a nice violin style set in the style of White Rum Raymond.
This is the Violin used a lead instrument – think – Paragons 'The Tide Is High' produced by Duke Reid and a number of great productions in the early seventies from Gussie Clarke that it seems all featured White Rum Raymond, although it now seems that we have another violinist who also played on sessions during that time.
Those tunes remain popular to this day – due in part to the violin used on them.
Reggae music was experimenting with all kinds of instruments then – the Melodica and Banjo were all part of that process.
It wasn't a gimmick. If you want to hear that goi and listen to the Reggae Philharmonic Orchestra!
The Sons Of Mystro are not a gimmick. Listen to the great melodies they create on a cut of 'Feel Like Jumping' this is reggae music at it's inventive best.
And in case you didn't know they are available for wedding and parties!!!!
