Linton Kwesi Johnson - Live In Paris - LKJ - DVD

Dub Poetry with its militant and heavy themes would have made more

sense with Roots Radics style rhythms - instead LKJ always went for a

more British kind of sound - which lacked the some of the punch.

However today more or less the same band that he was working with back

in the seventies and eighties - now sound very heavy. And LKJ hasn't

changed. He was an Icon of UK reggae, along with Jah Shaka, and like

Jah Shaka he still is.

He's also ran his own LKJ label now for quite a while. And to

celebrate 25 years in the business he's put out this excellent DVD.

LKJ presents to us what really is a historical document of the last 25

years - and what a nightmare it is!!! LKJ just stands up there and

tell it like it is. Thirteen tracks that just give a glimpse of what

it means to be black, or poor in the UK then, and what it means today.
