Conroy Smith – Open Your Eyes – Spenguy – 1995
Produced by Mitchell Lodge this album contains some well built rhythms from around the mid-nineties. Which was a time of great renewal in reggae music. Fatis/Xterminator had brought the music back on track. It was up to others to follow, and follow they did. Richard Bell/Star Trail came forward. And became Fatis’s main rival.
But there is always room in reggae for new producers with fresh ideas. Likewise with singers. Vocally Conroy Smith, is part of the White Mice, Malibu, Courtney Melody vocal school. They can bend vocals all over the place in fine style. And they can write great lyrics. Listen out for ‘Right From Wrong’ a great tune.
