Clarendonians - Best Of - Studio One
Peter Austin & Ernest Wilson emerged right at the end of the Ska era around 65/66 during this time they worked exclusively with Coxsone Dodd. There first big hit was 'You Can't Be Happy'.
It was followed by other great tunes like 'Rudie Bam Bam' both these tunes show the Ska rhythm slowing down - its not yet Rock Steady but its going in that direction.
The third truly great Ska tune on this set is 'You Can't Keep A Good Man Down'. All excellent songs - all told there are about six tracks on the twelve track set that are Ska.
The rest are a mixture or rock steady and reggae. A lot happend musically in the sixties in Jamaica. This is a good place to understand it.
