Shaka Shamba – Namebrand – Greensleeves – 1994
It was a shame that Outernational never got around to recording an album with Shaka Shamba, for in the early nineties this Deejay certainly had a lot going for him, by the time this set was released he still had. The problem here is Junjo. In the eighties he had a very distinctive production sound. His attempts in the early to mid nineties were not successful. From time to time on this set you can hear the old flashes of inspiration. ‘One Love’ for instance with Cocoa Tea is Junjo at his very best. Shaka sounds very comfortable on this type of rhythm, and Junjo should have given him a few more like it. It didn’t happen.
