"Donovan -Banzani -Mango -1989
More or less the same line up of musicians, but a different studio -Grove Music in Ocho Rios, Jamaica -but a radically different sound. Its still the so called 'International Style' of the music, practiced by the likes of Burning Spear and Jimmy Cliff but with a more roots mix.
Strangely Donovan sounds a lot like Jimmy Cliff on this album and that could have a lot to do with the songs, most of which of which tend to be reality based and also tend to have more lyrics in them than your average song."
"Donovan -World Power -Mango -1988 Producing Burning Spear and bringing him forward to international success will always be what Jack Ruby is known for best. Over 25 years of running one the best sound systems in the music should matter more, but it doesn't. In the late eighties just before he died, he tried to produce once more. Once again he preferred to work with virtual unknowns. In this case Donovan Francis, who on the basis of this album is a good singer/songwriter. Jack's production could be less complex, but its still a fine LP."
