Bonny & Dotty - 14 Tunes
Bonny Blue-Frankson & Dotty were another great duo. Whose champion was Duke Reid. The Duke, recorded them no fewer than seventeen times from 1963 to 1967. The only other producer was King Edwards who got the chance to record the duo once with 'I'm So Glad'.
The Duo's big hit came with 'Dearest' a ballad - that features a guitar solo from either Ernest Ranglin or Dennis Sindrey and then tops it off with a trombone solo from Don Drummond. It is a true work of beauty. The Ska sides all carry the hallmark of Duke Reid at his very best. Solid rhythms with plenty of room for all kinds of solos.
The big mystery with the duo is - who is Dotty?
