Abijah - Abijah - VP - 2003
By the time that we reached the early 2000, or as far as this album is concerned 2003 - reggae music had successfully taken on board all that had been swirling around it for about the past ten years. The simple midi sounds of the eighties and nineties had been replaced by samples. You could create any kind of music on the music. What reggae did was what reggae does best - take a little bit of everything - and try to come up with something new. You ended up with some great reggae tracks - that had a lot more going on in them. For a singer/songwriter like - a new singer/songwriter - it meant his songs and they are very good songs - had to fit in with this style of production. Abijah copes well with this, but you keep wondering what would have have happened if he had put with a reggae band to produce this set.
