Morgan Heritage - Full Circle - VP
'Back On Track' would be a better title for this
set from Reggae's most popular band. This is
a Reggae album with some other influences,
much different from more recent sets from
them, which have tended to put Reggae in
the background. Reggae music's big hits
have got to learn some basic lessons - unless
you take your core audience with you, you
are not going anywhere! The kind of long
term popularity enjoyed by bands like Culture
comes from a steady stream of solid albums.
It is something that cannot be done quickly,
not even with a big bag of money. And big
labels do not like spending that kind of
money on Reggae, never have, never will.
For fans of good Reggae music, check this
one out, it’s good.
Morgan Heritage - More Teachings - VP
This group really needed to get back on track
- the last set tried far too hard to be an
international Reggae album; a load of
different styles, ending up in no style. This set
is much more traditional. It still has the R&B
flavours, mixed in with ballads, but all these
styles link back to Reggae. The songs are
really good as well - each and every one of
them is a message song of one kind or
another. Hopefully, they will stick with what
they know best and take themselves forward
in fine style.
